The Bassin
Just a 5‑minute walk from the Market Square, this inner harbor is located in the heart of the Sphinxkwartier. The old warehouses have been converted into residences, and around the renovated quay cellars you’ll find restaurants, a yoga studio, and terraces. You’ll also discover Filmhuis Lumière, Bureau Europa, and the Muziekgieterij. In short, it’s a part of Maastricht that is more than worth a visit.
With the development of Sappi Zuidwest and Landbouwbelang, this part of the city surrounding the water is gradually taking shape and becoming increasingly attractive.

Since 2019, ‘t Bassin has been an unbroken Blue Flag carrier. This is an international environmental award. Every year, the award is given to harbours that are clean and safe. The Blue Flag is a recognition for everything ‘t Bassin does in terms of the environment, safety, water quality, awareness and education and waste. A nice boost for this spot in the Sphinx Quarter.
